Whitehall celebrates 150 years!
January 11, 2010 was the kick-off date and helps us to commemorate the January 10, 1860, date when the plat for the village of Mears, now the city of Whitehall, was formally recorded.
The kickoff is the first of many sesquicentennial community programs scheduled throughout the year, including historical presentations, a style show, community picnic, birthday party, workshops, oral interviews, a photography exhibit, storytelling, historical cruise and receptions. The historical 2010 calendar designed for the yearlong celebration includes the dates of most of the events planned for the year. The calendars cost $13.95 and are available at many businesses in Whitehall and Montague. There will also be merchandise featuring the sesquicentennial logo available for sale at the many events planned.
